In the evocative setting of Maggiore g.a.m. Project Room in Venice, in collaboration with the Morandiana Library, an exhibition can be visited in the rooms of Palazzo Franchetti that sheds new light on the most authentic research of one of the great masters of twentieth-century art: Giorgio Morandi. The exhibition, entitled "Giorgio Morandi: The balance of signs", focuses on the artist's work on paper, including his famous etchings, considered one of the most significant aspects of his artistic production.

The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to dive yourself in Morandi's poetic universe, in which the sober elegance and formal balance create a common thread between the works. The watercolours, the drawings and the etchings become tools to reveal the depth of the artist, who tried to suggest an entire poetic universe through his essentiality, both in the subjects chosen and in the features of the sign.

The exhibition explores the main themes that characterized Morandi's work: from the landscapes of his beloved hometown to the refined flower vases, but above all the famous still lifes that stood with him throughout his artistic career. In these compositions, Morandi achieves the perfect balance between delicate signs and intense “chiaroscuro”(light and shade effects) contrasts, in a series of works of extraordinary beauty and sophistication.

Particular attention is paid to Morandi's engraving technique, which has always had a main role in his artistic research. Since 1910-11, the Maestro dedicated himself to engraving, developing a language and contents that marked the rest of his career. The etchings displayed in the exhibition testify the technical mastery of the artist who, with the simple chromatic play between engraved sign and paper, between hatching and white spaces, managed to evoke a whole world of emotions and suggestions.

Morandi never considered the art of graphics as subordinate to the art of painting, and his selection of engravings for the Venice Biennale in 1928 is a clear demonstration of this. Over the years, his ability to vary tonal gradations, calibrate the texture of the hatching and experiment with different compositions has kept his ability to fascinate an international audience intact.

An exhibition made possible thanks to the collaboration between ACP- Art Capital Partners and the Galleria d'Arte Maggiore g.a.m., which has long been dedicated to promoting Morandi's art at an international level. Visitors can thus discover the engraving art of one of the great protagonists of twentieth-century art and appreciate the intense depth and beauty of his works, still capable of fascinating those who observe them with their simplicity.

An extraordinary opportunity to get closer to the art of one of the most loved and celebrated masters of Italian and international art.
